Sister Scholastic'a Solemn Monastic Profression

On June 14, 2008, Sr. Scholastica Mayhew OSB celebrated her Solemn Monastic profession, at Minster Abbey, with her community, her family and friends. We wish her many abundant graces. We share with you some of the photos and the homily by Fr. Colin Batell OSB of Ampleforth Abbey who was the main concelebrant.

This is part of the prayer of consecration: which was used at Sr.Scholastica’s solemn profession:

Bless her and make her holy.
Give her a spirit of prayer,
so that the seed of divine life which you planted in her
may blossom and bear fruit.
Grant her a heart free from worldly cares and attachments,
ready to listen to every word you send her.
Lead her into that interior wilderness
where she may develop a spirit of silence and solitude.
Grant that, purified through humility and obedience
she may reach that perfect love which casts out all fear.
Grant her a spirit of simplicity and purity of heart.
Grant her discernment, integrity and poverty of spirit.
May she stand firm in your service,
in good days and in bad,
until the end.

Accept Sister Scholastica's offering of herself, O Lord.
Consecrate her entirely to the service of your glory,
And admit her into the presence of your angels.
Come to her, and make your home with her,
so that she may live before you with joy,
until she is brought at last
to contemplate the beauty of your face.
This we pray through Jesus Christ Our Lord,
Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.
